Instagram, TikTok and Meta ads for UAE restaurants

Posts for Instagram and TikTok, Meta ads worth paying for, and a way to count the covers.

Restaurant social media marketing in the UAE has three parts. Your posts show guests the food, the room and the way in. Paid Meta and TikTok ads put those posts in front of diners near your venue, and you track each ad to a booking.

Instagram, TikTok and Meta ads: one job each

Instagram, TikTok and Meta ads reach the same phones, yet guests open each app for a different reason. Give each platform a single task, then judge it on that task alone.

A couple planning dinner in Abu Dhabi might watch a TikTok on Tuesday, check your Instagram on Wednesday and book on Thursday. Each of those steps needs its own content.

If your team has time for one platform this month, fix Instagram first. A guest who finds you on TikTok, Google Maps or a delivery app may open your profile before booking. Make sure it answers their questions at a glance.

Instagram, TikTok and Meta account setup before you spend

You cannot judge an ad that sends guests to a thin profile or an untracked booking page. Work through this list before you put money behind any post.

  • Switch Instagram to a professional account and open a TikTok Business Account, so you can see insights and run ads.
  • Write a bio that names your cuisine, your area and your hours. Add Arabic if you serve Arabic-speaking guests.
  • Put one booking link and your WhatsApp number in each bio, then test both from a phone.
  • Pin your menu, location and opening hours as Instagram Highlights and pinned posts.
  • Confirm that your company owns the Meta business portfolio, the Facebook Page, the Instagram account and the ad account.
  • Give any agency partner access through Meta's business settings instead of sharing a password.
  • Install the Meta Pixel and the TikTok Pixel on your booking page, and record a finished booking as an event. Meta recommends adding its Conversions API alongside the pixel.
  • Name the person who replies to comments and direct messages, and agree the hours they cover.

Start with the ownership check. If a former freelancer holds your ad account, you can lose the audiences and the campaign history when they leave.

Plan a week of posts from one shoot

One short shoot can feed Instagram, TikTok and your ads for a week. Write the shot list before anyone picks up a phone, and film vertical so each clip fits Reels, Stories and TikTok.

A shot list for one service

  • Your signature dish, from raw ingredients to the pass.
  • The room at the hour you want to fill, with guests who agreed to appear.
  • A chef or server explaining one dish in a few sentences, in English or Arabic.
  • The entrance and the walk from parking or the mall door, so first-time guests find you.
  • A clean close-up of each new menu item for ads and delivery listings.
  • One moment that belongs to your venue alone: the grill flare, the coffee pour, the dessert trolley.

A posting rhythm your team can keep

Choose a rhythm you can hold through Ramadan, summer and a short-staffed week. Pick a number of posts your team can repeat each week for months, and add more once they keep up.

  • Post Reels and TikTok videos on set days, so guests and your team know what to expect.
  • Use Stories for the day's specials, live music and the room filling up.
  • Write captions that name the dish, the neighbourhood and the way to book.
  • Reply to comments within your service hours, and move booking questions to WhatsApp.
  • Save the best clips for ads, and log which dishes draw the most questions.

Run Meta ads that end in a booking

Meta ads run across Facebook and Instagram from one Ads Manager account. Before you spend, decide the single action you want at the end: a table booking, a WhatsApp chat or a delivery order.

Match the objective to the action

  • Website bookings: choose a Sales or Leads objective and optimise for the booking event your pixel records.
  • WhatsApp bookings: run an ad that opens a WhatsApp chat with a prefilled message your team recognises.
  • A new venue: start with Awareness or Engagement video ads, then retarget the people who watched.
  • Delivery orders: send people to your Talabat, Deliveroo, Careem or Noon Food listing, and compare orders week on week.

Set the location around your guests

Draw the audience around the neighbourhoods your guests come from. Add the office districts nearby if you sell lunch. A Dubai Marina terrace and a Sharjah family restaurant need different maps.

Start with broad interests. Meta describes Advantage+ audience as a setting that finds people from your conversion data, so give it real bookings to learn from.

Creative and schedule

  • Run several versions of each ad: a dish close-up, the room at night and a person talking to camera.
  • Show the dish and the area in the first frame, before any logo.
  • Use Ads Manager over the Boost button when you need booking tracking, language targeting or set hours.
  • Show dinner offers in the afternoon and brunch offers before the weekend.
  • Review spend and bookings each week, and pause ads that bring clicks without bookings.

If your venue serves alcohol, read the alcohol ad policies from Meta and TikTok before a drink appears in any ad. Both platforms restrict these ads and apply local law.

TikTok videos, Spark Ads and local creators

TikTok suits venues with something to watch: an open kitchen, a dessert being plated, a crowd at midnight. Begin with organic posts and learn which videos people watch to the end.

  • Shoot on a phone in vertical format, the way people film on the app.
  • Open on the food or the action, with no logo intro.
  • Put your area and the way to book on screen and in the caption.
  • Answer good questions in the comments with a short video reply.
  • Pin your strongest videos to the top of your profile.

Paying for reach on TikTok

TikTok Ads Manager lets you promote your own posts as Spark Ads, or a creator's post once they give you an authorisation code. Put money behind videos that hold attention, and send the click to a tracked booking page or WhatsApp.

Working with local creators

Food creators in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the northern emirates reach people your own account does not. Agree in writing what they post, when it goes live and if you may run it as an ad.

Check that any creator you pay follows the UAE Media Council rules for paid content. Ask them to switch on the paid partnership label that Instagram and TikTok provide.

Arabic copy, residents, visitors and the UAE calendar

Your guests in the UAE include Emirati families, residents from many countries and visitors on short stays. Each group books at different times and reads in different languages.

English, Arabic and the communities you serve

  • Have a native writer draft the Arabic copy instead of translating the English line by line.
  • Pick Gulf dialect or Modern Standard Arabic for your brand voice, and keep to it.
  • Run English and Arabic as separate ads so each one reads in full.
  • If your venue serves one community, such as Filipino, Indian or Lebanese diners, post in the language those guests share with friends.
  • Answer comments and messages in the guest's own language.

Residents and visitors

Give residents reasons to return on weekdays: a set lunch, a new dish, a quiet-night offer or a loyalty message on WhatsApp.

Visitors plan from their phones and hotel rooms. Show them the view, the room at night and the route from nearby hotels and landmarks. Hotel outlets can speak to in-house guests and to residents looking for a night out.

Ramadan and Eid

During Ramadan, guests eat and scroll at different hours. Plan iftar and suhoor content before the month starts, and move ad schedules to the hours before sunset and late at night.

  • Shoot iftar spreads and suhoor menus before Ramadan, while your kitchen has time.
  • Keep daytime posts respectful of guests who are fasting.
  • Mark the expected Ramadan and Eid dates when you plan the year.
  • Plan Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha content for family groups and holiday weekends.
  • Add UAE National Day, New Year and the school holidays to the same calendar.

Weekends and seasons

Many diners start the UAE weekend on Friday evening. Run weekend brunch and dinner ads from Thursday, and keep weekday budgets for lunch and quiet nights.

In summer, lead with air-conditioned rooms, indoor events and delivery. Once the weather cools, bring the terrace, outdoor seating and visitor content back to the front.

Track each post and ad to a booking

Judge social media by covers, bookings, spend and cost per guest. Build four habits to see those numbers.

  1. Tag each link with UTM parameters that name the platform and the campaign, so Google Analytics shows where bookings came from.
  2. Use a different prefilled WhatsApp message for Instagram, TikTok and each ad, so your team knows the source of each chat.
  3. Ask guests on the booking form or at the table how they heard about you, and log the answer.
  4. Review the numbers each week by platform, then decide what to keep, change or stop.

This week's social media checklist

  • Open your Instagram profile on a phone as a stranger would, then fix the bio, the link and the Highlights.
  • Tap the booking link and the WhatsApp button from Instagram, TikTok and one live ad.
  • Check who owns your Meta business portfolio, Page and ad account.
  • Book one shoot and write its shot list.
  • Put the next Ramadan, Eid and school holiday dates in your marketing calendar.
  • Agree the weekly numbers you will report and who reports them.

Questions

Instagram, TikTok and Meta ads questions.

Should a UAE restaurant start with Instagram or TikTok?

Start with Instagram, since guests who find you on Google Maps or a delivery app may check your profile before booking. Add TikTok once your team can film short video each week.

Is boosting a post the same as running Meta ads?

Boosting runs a simple ad from one post. Ads Manager gives you campaign objectives, language settings, set hours and booking tracking. Use Ads Manager when you need to count covers.

Should we pay food creators to post about our restaurant?

Creators can reach diners your own account does not. Agree the posts and dates in writing, ask for the paid partnership label, and check the creator follows UAE Media Council rules for paid content.

Can we repost photos that guests tag us in?

Ask the guest first, in a comment or direct message, and credit them in the caption. Keep a record of each yes in case they ask you to remove the post.
